The Hifi Club · Leeds, United Kingdom
23:00 – 04:00

The HiFi Club is based at 2 Central Road in Leeds, where it has held club events. It opened in 2000 after The Underground closed, when promoters Ed Mason, John Morelli and Steven Allison took over the basement venue and brought its staff and club nights across. The club presents DJ-led and live events spanning soul and a range of other dance and popular music styles. Past performers include Nightmares on Wax, Peanut Butter Wolf, Gilles Peterson and Horse Meat Disco.
Its weekly programme includes MoveOnUp, a soul night featuring DJ Matt Bolton, whose selections draw on Motown, Atlantic soul, sixties beat, Hammond funk and Northern soul. The Sunday Joint pairs live music with DJ sets and ranges across soul, Latin, hip-hop, funk and salsa. The club has also hosted PIGS, an indie and electro night launched in late 2002, combining newer indie sounds with 1980s pop and electroclash. Alongside its music events, the venue hosts Saturday comedy.
