The Villa is a Norway-based event promoter that has run events at its underground club in central Oslo. Established by Emil Hesselberg, Jennifer McConachie and Tore “Jazztobakk” Gjedrem, the club first operated in the basement below Hell’s Kitchen on Møllergata and later moved to Møllergata 23–25, in a former butcher shop basement. Its programme has featured house, techno and disco since 2007, with events across three dancefloors. Artists who have performed there include Leftfield, Skatebård, Skream and Bonobo.
The Villa uses a Funktion-One sound system. Room Division designed distinct lighting for the main room and Sweat Room, including a ceiling of box lights on the main floor and beam lighting in the Sweat Room. The club placed 94th in DJ Mag’s world-club poll in 2008 and 54th the following year, and was named among Europe’s top 25 clubs in 2014.
