Type One Community

Type One Community is a London-based collective running club nights and events. Founded by Kyle Parsley, JayU and Sophia Violet, it brings together people with type 1 diabetes, their allies and other dancers through music and clubbing. Sophia Violet is associated with Girls Don't Sync, while JayU and Kyle Parsley are associated with Shut The Front Door. Events have taken place at The Cause in London and Lost Horizon in Bristol, with a Hackney Wick residency at All My Friends featuring tech house and deep house. Line-ups have included Harriet Jaxxon, Dread MC, Inja and Voltage.

The programme includes a recurring residency with DJs from the type 1 diabetes community and their allies, alongside radio shows, community mixes and livestreams. Its activity has also included festival hypo kits, hypo treats in bars and diabetes medication briefings for door staff. Type One Community launched in London on 14 November 2023, World Diabetes Day, with a party at DJ Mag HQ featuring Harriet Jaxxon and MC GQ. It has also presented a vinyl-only in-store session at Inverted Audio in Peckham, with Antek, Kyle Parsley and Antepop.
