UMI

UMI is a Brussels music venue and cultural space established in 2023 after taking over the former Zodiak club premises. Founded by Daria de Troostembergh and Nathan Aerts, it is located at Rue du Marché aux Fromages 10. De Troostembergh oversees administration and event production, while Aerts handles the venue’s scenography and technical production. Its Sub and Studio rooms have sound systems designed by Aerts, and a separate chill-out room is also part of the venue; its approximate capacity is 700.

UMI’s initial programming paired exhibitions and events for Belgian and international artists with minimal, house and breakbeat music. It presents local and international DJs, with past line-ups featuring Kappen, Matho, Nidrev and PHIL. The venue’s downstairs room centres on deeper techno, while the upstairs Studio ranges across other dance music styles. Renaud Deru took charge of Saturday nights and renamed the series BLUR, which UMI promotes as a recurring event. UMI also launched UMI PRESENTS, a night featuring local and international artists.
