Wolfgang Rink / Pathfinder Rec.

Wolfgang Rink / Pathfinder Rec. operates from Cologne, Germany, with events at Odonien and Gebäude 9. In August 1998, Wolfgang Rink, known as DJ Rinc, established the Pathfinder Recordings drum and bass label in Bonn. Its launch party was held at Gebäude 9 that November. During its first five years, the label issued seven vinyl 12-inch records; Giana Brotherz produced more than half, first using the name SSB.

Pathfinder held regular drum and bass events in the 1990s at Bonn venues Nachtschicht, previously called Bubbles, and Carpe Noctem. By 2003, it was organizing across the Cologne–Bonn area, including Northern Lights with Teebee at Stadtgarten in Cologne. Its events were intended to attract audiences from beyond the two cities. Event line-ups have included Badlokk and Gourski.

Its Breakzone festival has presented drum and bass alongside dubstep, house and techno. Earlier editions took place at Odonien, Papierfabrik and Schrebergarten; in 2013, the festival used Cologne’s Essigfabrik and Elektroküche, with indoor and outdoor areas. Fourward and Neonlight appeared on that edition’s line-up. Pathfinder partnered with Basswerk for the 2022 Breakzone Festival at Odonien. The two also present the Halloween Bass drum and bass night at Gebäude 9, a partnership established by 2024.
