Yamatai x Heavy Sonics x Makino: Summer Session
Battersea Barge · London, United Kingdom
12:00 – 19:00
Based in London, Yamatai Records combines label activity with drum and bass events. James Williams established the label in April 2020 alongside Josh and Corrupted Mind. After the other founders withdrew, Williams took sole ownership and relaunched it in 2022. Its music spans underground drum and bass, including minimal tech, experimental and liquid styles, with emerging artists among its focus.
Events have been held at Battersea Barge and Planet Wax, including a February 2025 launch at Planet Wax for Leks’s Haven, with roster artists and collaborators. A 2023 release, Foundations Of Yamatai Vol 1, brought together artists including Disprove, Rizzle, Waeys and Kyrist. The label’s releases also include the Collusion EP and Genesis VA. In May 2025, Yamatai Records joined Cue:Rated for a third-anniversary event at Tola, featuring drum and bass and dubstep. A partnership with Transparent Audio has offered artists opportunities for live performances and collaborations.
