It seems that every young promotion group believes there is only one way to make a name for themselves: throw a Big Party with Cool Artists. Unfortunately, many no longer remember (or simply cannot remember, possibly because of their age) that all the major promoters of today began their careers by putting on small events without guests for several years, on sheer enthusiasm alone. That is why it can be very sad to see obvious and truly frustrating organisational mistakes at an event that could have been perfect.
Let me say right away that all the guests performed at 10+, which I hadn’t expected at all. Honestly. It was absolutely impossible to sit still. It is twice as enjoyable when the guests are presenting genuinely the most up-to-date material available at that moment. It is also impossible not to mention the DJ sets by the Russian DJs. This was the first time I had heard Nphonix perform, and I was completely satisfied. Special thanks for Lifted Music - The Prologue EP! By the way, it is worth noting that the artists from the Lifted Music label are gaining momentum on the Russian scene; it seems that the only one not yet planned to be brought over is Ewun. Everyone else has either already been to Russia or will be arriving very soon. Why, even Xpander played tracks from this very EP. I don’t often make it to his performances, so perhaps this is normal practice for him, but his DJ set contained an unexpectedly large number of neurofunk tracks (unexpected for me, at least). Well, that is more or less everything about the artists in a nutshell. Now I will tell you about the event’s main problem, which I mentioned right at the beginning. It was VERY LOUD in the club!!! Simply unimaginably, monstrously loud. My head started hurting after about two hours, and my ears were ringing for a couple of days afterwards. You just can’t do that! I genuinely didn’t understand why it was necessary. Not only was it loud, but the high frequencies were also overloaded; if that can still be tolerated under normal conditions, at that sound level it simply tore my brain apart. There was one more issue (which, I am sure, most of the audience did not notice). All (or almost all) of the sound was positioned several metres behind the artists, who had only a small monitor on a stand. Given the delay between the master and the monitor, playing onstage was very difficult! If not for that, I would never have been pulled away from the dancefloor. As it was, I barely managed to stay until the middle of Chris Renegade’s DJ set. By the way, Chris tore everyone apart once again. Completely to pieces.
Well, I think the people from Ultrasound Project will take all the shortcomings into account for their next event, and we will all be able to fully enjoy an excellent event.
