700 Club is a club at 700 N 2nd St in Northern Liberties, Philadelphia. It began in 1997 in a former wholesale butter and egg shop, founded by Tracy Stanton, Kurt Wunder and Chris Sey. Stanton and Wunder later bought out Sey. The building had a pub downstairs and an upstairs lounge for dance parties. Its capacity is about 150. The shop had a hole in its roof when the founders took it over. The venue also became a soccer bar and a nightlife destination, with dance parties held upstairs.
DJs were encouraged to move between styles including hip-hop, house and rock. DJ Lowbudget held a Thursday residency upstairs from 2004 to 2007, while Diplo and Cosmo Baker were also part of the club’s dance-music scene. DJ HA has run events there. In 2019, Sean and Gina Butler-Galliera bought the venue and kept its name. Before the purchase, the couple had worked in Philadelphia bars and knew the founders through the Khyber Pass.
