Acanteen

Acanteen is a bar, restaurant and venue in Chelmsford, at 35 New London Rd. Established in 2001, it has been owned and operated since then by a mother-and-daughters team, as an independent family-run business. The venue has an overall capacity of about 400, while its bar lounge accommodates up to 100 guests. A separate private lounge has seating for 20 or standing room for 30. The promoters acanteen and OURHOUSE have run events there.

Acanteen hosts DJs on Friday and Saturday nights, with comedy on the first Thursday of each month and live country music on the second Thursday. Its club nights have included performances by DJ Marky, Goldie, Roni Size, J Majik, Norman Jay and Mr. Scruff.
