Bar A Bar

Bar A Bar occupies a basement at 133-135 Stoke Newington Road in Stoke Newington, London. Before it became a legitimate venue in 2009, the site functioned as a semi-legal club for parties promoted by Disco Bloodbath. Its past uses also included a Turkish den and a Jamaican blues club.

The club has an intimate dance floor and a Martin Audio sound system. Its music has ranged across house, techno, disco and underground hip-hop, with local DJs and promoters regularly involved. DJ Ital and Oscar Martinez have staged events there. Theo Parrish was an early guest, while DJ Brockie, Bryan Gee, Ragga Twins and Uncle Dugs have also played at Bar A Bar.

In 2011, a change in management brought in a booth for vinyl DJs, a three-deck turntable setup, a rotary mixer and a Funktion-One sound system. The venue has also shown work by emerging London artists through exhibitions that changed every two months. Its interior includes a hand-painted DJ booth and sofa areas. In 2017, the basement held 250 people and its programme covered leftfield music.
