Biergarten is an outdoor beer garden on Octavia Street in Hayes Valley, San Francisco. It opened in 2011 as part of the Proxy Project, a temporary development on former Central Freeway land, where businesses occupy shipping-container structures. The Hulme brothers developed it with Suppenküche owner Fabrizio Wiest as an extension of the nearby German restaurant. The beer garden was built from shipping containers and uses an outdoor space in the project. It sits at 424 Octavia Street.
Communal tables sit among rotating draft beers and German-style food, including locally sourced pub dishes. Its stated capacity is about 300. Music at the venue has included traditional German brass-band and folk performances, with Blowmusik and Bayern Maiden among the acts. Mr.Nobodysf has run events there, and the space has also hosted community events in Hayes Valley. Aaron Hulme and his twin brother Matthew were among the owners.
