Birdcage

Birdcage is a club at 154 Đ. Đê Quai in Tứ Liên, Tây Hồ, Hanoi, set between the city’s flower market and the kumquat plantations along the Red River. It celebrated its seventh birthday in November 2023. After a short closure it reopened in April 2021 under new owners Thomas Etievant, Matt Jeffs, Ayoub Ainar and Aristide Douroux.

The club holds about 400 people and runs a Funktion-One system. A September 2024 relaunch brought a new main-room rig and a renovated live space, The Garden. Its programme has ranged from house and disco to UK garage, breaks and drum and bass, built around local collectives such as LockedinAsia, 4 Claws and defusedmood, with Poe, Mullen, Tony Macaroni and Wai Kru among the artists who have played.
