Caroline of Brunswick

Caroline of Brunswick stands at 39 Ditchling Rd in Brighton, where a pub has operated since the 1820s, first under the name Star of Brunswick. It later traded as Leek & Winkle and The Leek before Cliff Barnes and Debora Parr relaunched it as Caroline of Brunswick in 2006. The venue has a capacity of about 60 and combines a pub with an upstairs space for live music, comedy and cabaret.

Its music programme centres on rock and alternative sounds, with weekend DJs, dancing and karaoke; the Main Bar also has a rock jukebox. Get Your Rocks Off is a rock and alternative karaoke night. The Upper Lounge accommodates comedy shows, small gigs, club nights and film screenings. Comedians to have performed upstairs include Rhod Gilbert, Sara Pascoe and Romesh Ranganathan.
