Casa Capitão

Casa Capitão started as a temporary cultural project in 2020 and reopened as a permanent Beato venue on September 19, 2025. It occupies the former commander’s residence in the Manutenção Militar complex, founded in 1897, at Rua do Grilo 119 in Lisbon. CTL (Cultural Trend Lisbon), the company behind Musicbox, runs the venue; its opening followed Musicbox’s closure in September 2025. Gonçalo Riscado and his brother João run CTL.

The four-storey building combines concerts and club events with other cultural activities, and its main ground-floor room holds about 400 people standing. The venue’s overall capacity is about 450. A smaller room is designed for concerts of up to 120 people and club events for up to 150. The attic includes a black box for smaller performances, while the basement is intended for artistic residencies. The site also includes a courtyard, terrace and Mesa food space. Acoustic treatment was installed during the conversion.

Programming includes music, debate, visual and performing arts, workshops and food. O Baile is the venue’s late-night dance programme, and its book strand is called Quiosque. Promoters who have held events there include BRKALEG and Rotten \ Fresh. Artists who have played at Casa Capitão include Delikwe, DLFX, Violet (PT) and WTVR.
