Civic Underground

Civic Underground is at 388 Pitt St in Sydney and has room for about 250 people. Formerly the Civic Theatre, it began as a cabaret and live rock venue before being refurbished in 2008, when white plush booths were added. Its illuminated, panelled ceiling changes colour, and a sunken dance floor faces a stage with curtains and a moveable DJ console. Its DJ setup centres on a V6 rotary mixer from Allen & Heath, alongside a Ramsa SX-1 unit for front-of-house mixing.

House and techno generally feature on Fridays, with disco on Saturdays. Reckless Republic launched the weekly C.U Saturdays, while Eighty-Six and SHOOK Crew have also promoted events there. Artists who have played at the venue include ILÜZI, IMANU and Modestep.
