Club Up

Club Up began operating in 2008 at Korte Leidsedwarsstraat 26-1 in Amsterdam’s Binnenstad, beside Leidseplein. Its premises occupy a neighbouring building to De Kring, the artists’ society founded in 1922. The property was adapted to give De Kring an additional emergency exit, leading to the creation of Club Up. The two venues are connected, and visitors can move between them on selected nights. The name reflects the upstairs route used to enter from either entrance.

The venue accommodates up to 225 guests and has sound and lighting equipment. House is central to its programme, alongside disco, techno and R&B. F*cking Pop Queers began as a weekly club night and developed into an event focused on pop music and queer expression. Club Up also hosts afterparties associated with Amsterdam Fringe Festival and Amsterdam Dance Event.
