Cosies

Cosies is a basement venue at 34 Portland Square in St Paul’s, Bristol. It began as a wine bar, opening in 1984 and marking its 40th anniversary in 2024. The cellar has a low ceiling and an 80-capacity dance floor. Over time, the bar developed into a community space and a safe space for Bristol’s Caribbean community.

Its music spans reggae, dub, drum and bass and other electronic styles. Reggae Sundays is a recurring night, while Code of the Streets began a monthly residency there in 2004 before moving to Basement 45 as the night grew. Bass Scoops Radio has also promoted events at Cosies. Artists who have played there include Deselecta, Madcap, Bego and Euphonique. Cosies offers rum and roasts.
