D-EDGE

D-EDGE opened in São Paulo’s Barra Funda neighbourhood in 2003, first on Rua Olga, and is now at Av. Auro Soares de Moura Andrade, 141. Founder Renato Ratier worked with designer Muti Randolph on the club’s interior, including its LED décor. A renovation in 2010 added a second dance floor, a lounge and an outdoor terrace overlooking the Memorial da América Latina.

The club has four rooms with floor-to-ceiling LED panels, a bay window linking the terrace and dance floor, and capacity of about 1,000. In 2021 a 112,000-watt main-floor sound system designed by Ratier with KW Audio was installed, and D-EDGE receives about 20,000 visitors each month. Its programming has covered nu-disco, minimal and electro alongside rock nights.

Weekly events include Moving, with deep house and tech house on Thursdays; On the Rocks, with progressive, indie and psychedelic rock on Mondays; Freak Chic, with disco, funk and classic house on Fridays; Mothership, for techno and experimental electronics; and the Sunday afterparty Superafter. The club also runs the D-EDGE Records, Black and Olga labels, the D AGENCY booking agency and a DJ college. DJ Marky, Miss Kittin and Todd Terje are among the artists who have played there.
