D-Edge RIO opened in November 2023 as a Rio branch of the São Paulo club brand, with artist and entrepreneur Renato Ratier behind the project. At Av. Rodrigues Alves, 293, in Saúde, it occupies a warehouse built in the early twentieth century in the port district. The project is also known as Centro Cultural D-Edge Rio, or CCDR. It is one of the cultural anchors in the Porto Maravilha redevelopment of the port region.
The complex has five levels, three pavilions, a mezzanine and a rooftop, with dance floors in pavilions 2 and 3 and a lounge overlooking Guanabara Bay. Its facilities also include an art gallery, shop and restaurant, alongside areas for arts, music, fashion, design and gastronomy. Suzana Margem de Almeida designed the 2,500-square-metre project. The sound system uses Italian Line Array equipment made by B&C Speakers; the venue holds about 900 people and contains over 2,000 metres of LED strips, around 35 kilometres of electrical cable and 1,250 lighting points.
Electronic-music programming includes events called MANTO, DEPARTAMENTO and LOCALS. Artists who have performed there include DJ Marky, FABZ and Marcelinho da Lua. In 2024, it hosted 85 events and received nearly 50,000 people. Plans for a Rio branch were announced in January 2014, with a March opening intended and the São Paulo club’s design, sound and musical programming as its model.
