Dali was an electronic nightclub in Cork, hosting parties above Nudes craft & cocktail on Lavitts Quay. It opened in May 2018 in the former Pavilion on Carey’s Lane, after operating for seven months in a Marina warehouse. Hope Alo and Stephen O’Byrne ran the club, whose programme centred on underground electronic and alternative music. The building had first served as a cinema, which closed in 1989, then as the Pavilion Bar and Nightclub. The cinema opened in 1921, and Dali’s upstairs room retained features including a vaulted ceiling. The club ceased trading during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dali had room for about 400 people and installed a Void Acoustics sound system, including Ireland’s first Arcline 8 system. Promoters staging events there included STEAM LITE, Bualadh Bass Festival, Freezit Records and Audio Research Corporation. The opening weekend drew 400 people. Performers at the club included Cleric, Fish Go Deep, New Jackson and No Spill Blood.
