Der Ponyhof

Der Ponyhof was a bar-club venue at Sechshauserstraße 4 in Vienna’s 15th district. It opened in October 2021, combining bar and club formats with a programme spanning techno and drum and bass, alongside occasional hip-hop and soul. The venue also held art events, discussion groups and regular meetups, with programming for Vienna’s local and queer scenes. Community and inclusion were part of its approach to electronic music.

The main dancefloor used a room-within-a-room design and active noise control to reduce sound passing into the residential building. Its system comprised 24 Bowers & Wilkins AM-1 loudspeakers, 16 custom-built subwoofers, 12 noise-control modules and eight Artnovion Logan diffusors. Music was played at a deliberately moderate volume. Tuesday open decks gave newcomer DJs a regular slot, with techno and house on the programme. Der Ponyhof announced an indefinite closure in July 2025, citing financial difficulties.
