District

District is a nightclub at 61 Harrington Street in Zonnebloem, Cape Town, occupying the former site of The Assembly. It opened in 2017 and sits on the building’s top floor, with capacity for about 900 people. The room has a dance floor with Oregon timber boards, retro booth seating and several bars. Its sound systems accommodate both electronic DJs and live bands.

The programme has ranged across electronic music, psytrance, hip-hop, rock and punk, alongside regular Thursday band nights established by 2022. The Firm manages the venue, while Foulplay began its band-night programme there in June 2022. Serum, IMANU and Circadian have performed there, and Kyle Cassim is a regular DJ. Timo ODV and Chunda Munki have also played at District. In June 2026, District hosted a Bed by 10 early-evening club night. The venue also hosts themed parties and techno nights on First Thursdays.
