E1

E1 is a club at 110 Pennington Street in Wapping, East London, opposite Tobacco Dock. The site previously operated as Studio Spaces, a venue for events and photography that also hosted occasional club nights. E1 opened in its current club format in December 2017, with a 27-hour New Year’s Eve party. The opening party featured Ben Klock and Maceo Plex.

The venue has two main rooms, the Warehouse and Black Studio, plus a chill-out area, with capacity for about 1,600. Both rooms use Funktion-One sound systems; the Warehouse has a bespoke Wall of Sound and acoustic treatment. Its programming spans techno, house, drum and bass and electro, and electronic music events have also included trance. Promoters running events there include E1, LDN DV8 Bass Face, Breakin Science and Undivide. Drum and bass artists who have played include Eksman, Heist, Funsta and IC3. Other artists who have played at E1 include Jeff Mills and Theo Parrish.
