EartH is a multi-arts venue in Dalston, London, on Stoke Newington Road. The name abbreviates Evolutionary Arts Hackney, and the venue was once called Hackney Arts Centre. Associated British Cinemas’ in-house architect William R. Glen designed the building, which began as the Art Deco Savoy Cinema in 1936. It later operated as the ABC, Konak Cinema and Ace Cinema, with its last film screening in 1984.
After the cinema shut, the building served as a snooker hall, community centre, restaurant and function room. Auro Foxcroft and others redeveloped it before EartH opened in September 2018. The venue contains an Art Deco theatre upstairs, a live-music hall on the ground floor and EartH Kitchen. The hall accommodates up to 1,200 people, while the tiered theatre has 680 seats. The hall uses L-Acoustics L-ISA sound technology for live events, and EartH was the first live music venue in Europe to install it. The team behind Village Underground launched EartH.
EartH hosts live music, club nights, comedy, talks, film and other performances. Promoters that have held events there include Centralizin' Soundz, A MAN ABOUT A DOG, Weird Science and Columbo Music. Grooverider and Peggy Gou are among the artists who have performed at the venue.
