Edith

Edith is a bar and club at Nagymező u. 25 in Budapest, occupying the former Piaf Bar site. Piaf closed before the venue reopened as Edith in February 2020. The cellar, once reached by a spiral staircase, was retained; the venue now has a ground-floor lounge and a basement dance floor. Red shades feature in the interior, and capacity is about 100.

The basement is used for electronic music and techno events, alongside DJ sets, small concerts, exhibitions and talks. Chily Team has run events there, and Dharma Beatz has played at the venue. Edith marked its fifth anniversary in February 2025.

Piaf Bar opened in 1990, founded by actor Béla Paudits and his wife Mária for a theatrical clientele; it closed in 2017. After a summer shutdown, Edith resumed operations in September 2024. That month, a drink spilled into the DJ booth and damaged equipment, prompting the venue to seek financial support to avert closure.
