Electric Brixton is a club and live-music venue on Town Hall Parade in Brixton, South London. Its building began as the Palladium Picture House in 1913, later becoming The Ace and then the Fridge nightclub. The Fridge hosted Soul II Soul’s residency between 1988 and 1993, alongside Daisy Chain, Escape from Samsara and Love Muscle. After a two-year refurbishment costing £1 million, the venue reopened as Electric Brixton in September 2011. The building has a history spanning more than a century.
The refurbishment restored original features and brought in a new d&b sound system. The venue holds more than 1,500 people and operates for both club nights and live shows. Promoters running events there include Liquicity, Louder, Undivide and Breakin Science. Artists who have played include Mozey, Futurebound, GAIA (UK) and Makoto. Felix Da Housecat and DJ Hell headlined the opening night on 24 September 2011.
