Electrowerkz

Electrowerkz occupies a former steelworks dating to the late 19th century, at 7 Torrens Street in Angel, Islington, London. It has functioned as a club and events venue since 1987, the year Slimelight began there. Slimelight was co-founded by Mayuan Mak, who owned Electrowerkz until his death in December 2020.

The building extends over five floors around a central courtyard, with seven spaces, including four used for club events. Among them are the Warehouse, Bunker and Glasshouse; the site can hold about 1,120 people and provides more than 30,000 square feet of event space. A glass atrium covers the Courtyard, while large windows in the Penthouse admit natural light. The rooms are also used for corporate events, brand launches, parties, filming and photographic shoots. Electrowerkz was a filming location for the Black Mirror episode “San Junipero” and a filming base for A Street Cat Named Bob and Yardie.

Slimelight features goth, industrial, dark techno and dark electro, alongside DJ sets and live performances. Acts to appear there include VNV Nation, The Crüxshadows, Combichrist and Clan of Xymox. Other club nights held at Electrowerkz include Torture Garden and HUNTER, while Music Mondays has also run events there. Artists who have played at the venue include Billy Daniel Bunter and DJ Vibes. In 2025, Electrowerkz started Karma Klub and the members-only party The Lock In.
