EQ San Diego

EQ San Diego is an electronic music club in Hillcrest, at 1271 University Avenue in San Diego. The venue previously operated under the name The Merrow and has room for 181 people. Its layout includes a dance floor, a central stage and an outdoor patio, with a 1959 Cadillac suspended as a centerpiece. Engineers tuned the sound system for electronic music, and honeycomb-shaped LED fixtures cover the ceiling. Programming ranges from house and techno to bass music, with live performances and themed events, including some connected to Hillcrest’s queer community.

Recurring events include Blue Monday and Sanctuary, alongside nights such as Reverb and Club Sabbat. Sanctuary features drum-and-bass residents, while Reverb presents hard techno and local and emerging performers. San DNB and Sanctuary DnB have promoted events at the venue. Artists who have performed there include Knotice, JoshtheBear, BCee and Savage. Blue Monday residents Camilla Robina and Faux Velvet play vinyl selections spanning post-punk, glam rock and new wave.
