Factory Theatre is a live venue at 105 Victoria Road, Marrickville, in Sydney’s inner west, a short walk from the Enmore Theatre past Enmore Park and Vic on the Park. Buses 423, 426 and 428 stop nearby. The site was once a paper factory, which gave the venue its name; Century Venues opened it in 2006 after closing its Newtown venue.
The building has six rooms, among them the Main Room, Fusebox Studio, Factory Floor and Terminal. The Main Room holds 800 standing, 600 seated theatre-style or 300 cabaret-style, with a NEXO GEO S1210 and RS18 system plus an EV dual 18-inch speaker on each side.
Its programme takes in music, comedy, cabaret, film and dance, and it is a venue for the Sydney Comedy Festival and Sydney Fringe Festival. Freekin’ Weekends offers free live music from emerging artists during daylight saving. SHOOK Crew has promoted events there, with Floga, Jay See, Kate Savage and Royalston among the performers.
