Gebäude 9 is a club and concert venue on Deutz-Mülheimer Straße in Cologne, set on a former factory site. Pablo Geller and Jan van Weegen opened it in 1996, initially presenting independent theatre. The organizers later developed nights that paired stage performances with DJs. Redevelopment threatened the venue in 2014, but an extended lease kept it at the same address.
The main hall accommodates about 400 people and hosts concerts, theatre, readings, parties and film screenings. A cinema room is used for 16mm screenings; since late 2007, Gebäude 9 and the Kölner Filmhaus have jointly run the monthly Something Weird Cinema series. The venue reopened in November 2019 after renovation and became part of the Cologneo complex.
Concert programming ranges across indie rock, punk, metal, post-punk and electronic music, alongside club nights. Monthly drum and bass parties Basswerk Session and Phonogenic feature DJs and video jockeys. Wolfgang Rink / Pathfinder Rec. is among the promoters to have run events there; artists who have played include Black Sun Empire, Badlokk, Gourski and JSPR. Other recurring events include the pop and punk party Gogo Crazy and the Balkan Express series. Gebäude 9 also works with the magazine intro on intro intim, and with Underdog Records and Lucha Amada on monthly concerts.
