Hide operated as a nightclub at 172 Saint Asaph Street in Christchurch Central City. Mitch Ryder and Sam Smith founded the venue, which began operating in 2019 inside the former Empire Bar. Its purpose was to support Christchurch’s underground electronic scene following the closure of other venues. Programming centred on electronic music, including techno sessions upstairs; the upper level also served private functions and as a green room.

The club’s main room had a dance floor, custom lighting and a quad-stacked L-Acoustics sound system, alongside a performance booth. Its capacity was about 350 people. Artists appearing at Hide included Doc Scott, Alix Perez, Shy FX and Mala. In 2022, Hide received a Best Club nomination at the Drum & Bass Arena Awards. The venue ceased operating on June 27, 2026, after its owners chose to sell the business.
