Hootananny Brixton is a pub and music venue at 95 Effra Road in Brixton, South London. It began operating in 2007 inside a Victorian building that had previously traded as the George Canning and the Hobgoblin. Sibling business partners Kit Fraser and Sophia Yates established the venue after their Hootananny in Inverness, with an aim of bringing music from the Scottish Highlands to South London.
The permitted capacity is 870, divided between 250 people indoors and 620 in the external area. Its programme ranges across jungle, reggae, disco and house, with live performances by local and international acts from Wednesday through Sunday and party nights each week. Promoters at the venue have included Hootananny, Soul In Motion and KOOL FM; performers include Jumping Jack Frost and Bryan Gee. Facilities include a beer garden, a second bar with two pool tables and pop-up food stalls.
