Import Export

Import Export is a music venue and sociocultural centre at Schwere-Reiter-Str. 2h in Munich’s Kreativquartier. It began in 2010 in a former shop on Goethestraße as part of Munich Central, a Münchner Kammerspiele project. After Munich Central ended, Tuncay Acar and Michael Schild kept the venue going with the Kunstzentrat association, and in 2014 it moved to a former smithy on Schwere-Reiter-Straße.

Concerts and DJ nights sit alongside readings, theatre, exhibitions, workshops, festivals and political and cultural education. The music programme leans towards experimental, outernational and global sounds, and visiting sound systems such as Free Mind Soundsystem have played. The event room covers 100 square metres and holds 200 people, and the concert room is wheelchair accessible. A workshop serves children and young people, and there is a vegan canteen. Polaster, Kamikatze and Arabian Panther are among the artists who have performed.
