BASS STATION INVITES CARBON MUSIC

Junction Underground is a live-music and events venue on Dundas Street West in Toronto’s Junction neighbourhood. It opened in June 2022 after Alex SenGupta and Drago Nagoda, who grew up locally, renovated the former Junction City Music Hall. During the work, a concealed entrance and evidence of the building’s use as a speakeasy in the 1920s and 1930s came to light.
The room holds 150 people and has a stage, bar and lounge booths. Its sound system combines KV2 Audio equipment, installed in 2024, with two antique speakers donated by a collector. Programming spans live bands, DJ sets, parties, comedy, drag shows, open mics and karaoke, alongside afternoon dance events for children. Fluid Theory, Jungle Empire and Bass Station Toronto have run events there, and artists on the bill have included Gremlinz, FizzX, Matthew Charles and Pachelle.
