Kanteena

Kanteena began operating in Lancaster’s Canal Quarter in October 2019, using a former Mitchells Brewery and pop-drinks factory whose brewery site dated to 1871. At Brewery Ln, the 500-square-metre warehouse was developed by street-food entrepreneur Pablo Aguilar with Worthington Properties and Lancaster City Council. The venue combined food service, a bar and social space with performances and events, including gigs, club nights, comedy, workshops and family activities.

Its five spaces included a main gig room, the Atika bar and a beer garden, with capacity for about 240 people. The Lovely Eggs helped curate music events, and Kanteena hosted performances during Lancaster Music Festival in October 2019. Promoters there included HotCakes and Jungle Cakes; artists who played there included Deekline, Nicky Blackmarket and The Zutons. In July 2025, Kanteena announced that it would close after its New Year’s Eve event at Brewery Lane, following six years of operation.
