Kauz

Kauz began operating in 2013 on Ausstellungsstrasse 21 in Zurich, founded by members of the team behind Cabaret. It first worked as a cocktail bar, with a quieter music-bar setting, before becoming a club. The basement has two dance floors, a low ceiling and a winding layout; its capacity is 200. A KV2 system serves the room, with smaller speakers distributed through the space, which is lit by hundreds of red-orange lamps shaped like lanterns.

Electronic programming includes house, techno, electro and downtempo, with artists such as Moritz von Oswald, Fantastic Man, Judith van Waterkant and Vera Logdanidi appearing there. Neverending is a Kauz party that may run from Saturday to Monday. The club has no standard artist-residency format, and its programme varies with the promoters involved. In 2018, Miklos Kündig became managing director; Luke Redford had worked as booker and technician from 2016.
