KEYBAR

KEYBAR began operating at 432 East 13th Street in Manhattan in October 2002, founded by Hungarian owners Attila and Gyuszi. In 2023, the venue moved from the East Village to 143 Troutman Street in Brooklyn. Before KEYBAR, the owners ran bars and clubs in London and Hungary, including The Babushka, The Orange Cafe Rock Club and The Jimi Hendrix Music Pub Restaurant. The Brooklyn venue has a main room, a private party room and a covered backyard, with space for about 70 people.

Its DJ programme spans house, jungle, UK garage, drum and bass and nu-disco. Attila has held a Saturday-night DJ residency since the venue opened. Promoters have included Jungle Dub House Recordings and Sounds So Sweet NY; DJ Paul C, Hector Mamajuana and Mikey Dubs are among the artists who have played there. Weekly activities include karaoke on Tuesdays, open decks on alternate Wednesdays, local-DJ showcases on Thursdays, and DJ events on Fridays and Saturdays. A weekly jungle and drum and bass session has also taken place at the Brooklyn venue.
