Kraftfeld

Kraftfeld is a music club at Lagerplatz 18 in Winterthur, Switzerland, on the former Sulzer site. It started in 1996 as a temporary-use venue there, and its Ballsaal dance floor joined the club in 2002. Since 2005, Kraftfeld has operated from building 161 on Lagerplatz, run by the non-profit Kulturverein Kraftfeld, which also operates the Portier bistro.

Its programme ranges across electronic music, drum and bass, breakbeat and hip-hop, alongside concerts, parties and DJ nights. Winterthur collective Eulachbass runs the Reset drum-and-bass nights, while Kraftfeld co-produces formats including Herzrasen and Reudig and hosts the annual Sonnwendefest. In 2017, the Noise Sweet Noise event spread across the courtyard, Blinker space and Labüsch Bar on three floors. Artists who have played there include SL8R, Helia and Phill Turner. After pandemic-related interruptions and a difficult financial year, Kraftfeld raised CHF 177,000 through crowdfunding in 2024.
