Kraftwerket

Kraftwerket is a youth culture centre, project workshop and live music venue on Valgårdsvej in Valby, Copenhagen. It developed from Denmark’s Youth Municipality Experiment, which ran from 1998 to 2001; Copenhagen’s municipal council approved funding for its continuation in 2001. The centre contains several cultural spaces, including Plenum, UnderWerket, Cinéma la Bleu, Gallery Balkon and RampeWerket.

UnderWerket is the basement concert room, with a separate entrance from Toftegårds Plads. Its 100-square-metre room accommodates 120 standing or 40 seated, and includes a black-box stage, bar area and backstage space. The sound setup includes Martin Audio tops, custom RCF subwoofers and a Midas M32R console, alongside a Pioneer DJM700 mixer and two Technics SL1210 MkII turntables. Resident groups and external promoters organize concerts and cultural events, with programming that has included drum and bass, garage and techno. Artists who have played there include Dwonji and babysquid.
