La Gravière began operating in 2012 in Geneva’s Les Acacias district, using a former Firmenich petrochemical warehouse beside the Arve River, built in 1924. Its address is Chemin de la Gravière 9, Genève, Geneva, Switzerland. The nonprofit Association Le Bloc runs the venue independently, with its committee elected by association members. The club has two rooms.
Concerts and DJ events span techno, house, rock and hip-hop, with regional and international DJs including Saku Sahara, Calyx and Braises de Velours. In 2017, La Gravière launched Gravitation Recordings to share electronic music by Geneva artists abroad, and the act! label to support dance, theatre and performance. Its We Can Dance It initiative began in 2016 to promote equality and tackle sexism in club culture. The venue has hosted the annual C’est Déjà Demain festival and supported local artists through La Scène Découverte. Recurring party concepts include Reset, Pulsion, Finest Beats and RITMO.
