Lilac Tiger / Coach House

Lilac Tiger / Coach House is a bar and dining room at 1742 W. Division Street in Chicago’s Wicker Park. Lilac Tiger took over the Division Street site of Wazwan, Zubair Mohajir’s halal supper club and restaurant, opening in September 2023. Mohajir developed the bar with restaurateur Ty Fujimura and chef Won Kim. Its food draws on South Asian cooking alongside Korean and Japanese influences; the menu includes street food, momos and Wazwan’s tandoori honey fried chicken sandwich. David Mor oversees the drinks programme.

Behind Lilac Tiger, Coach House occupies a historic carriage house reached through a breezeway on the building’s west side. It opened as a fine-dining restaurant serving a tasting menu, with 22 seats; its dishes draw on South Indian traditions and spice-road influences. The drum-and-bass night MOTION has run at the venue, with resident DJs LO! and Current. Artists who have played there include Current, Lo, Renan and Stunna.
