Mississippi Underground

Mississippi Underground is a warehouse venue for electronic music at 1441 N. 2nd Street in St. Louis’s North Riverfront district. The building had been a soap factory and later a restaurant-equipment resale shop before standing empty for years. Owner Julian Jordan bought the property around 2020 and renovated it for music events. The venue reopened in January 2024.

Its two rooms occupy a former factory of about 10,000 square feet, with capacity for roughly 1,000 people and a 5,000-square-foot dance floor. The space also has 22-foot ceilings and an elevated DJ booth measuring 24 by 16 feet. A Turbosound system is configured for the rooms, alongside moving lights, lasers, atmospheric effects and LED video walls. Music spans techno, house, bass and other underground electronic styles. Monthly Materia nights, featuring local DJs, moved here after outgrowing Broadway Boat Bar. Artists who have played include Ivy Lab and The Glitch Mob.
