Mixtape 5 is a music venue in the underpass by the National Palace of Culture, on Bulgaria Boulevard in central Sofia. It opened in 2011 as a nightclub before shifting towards concerts and other live music. Its founders, who were also associated with Petak Bar, set out to give emerging musicians and established acts a stage.
The venue has two areas, A-Side and B-Side, and capacity for about 400. Acoustic Waves refurbished A-Side, with work focused on sound control, including low frequencies. Its programme ranges from salsa and hip-hop to drum and bass and metal, alongside concerts by Bulgarian and international artists. Metafiziq Recordings has run events there; artists who have played include CYNIC and Ogonek, while resident names have included Cinnamint and Ivan Shopov. In 2012, local and international bands were performing on its concert stage at least weekly.
