Motion Bristol

Motion Bristol operated at 74-78 Avon Street, beside the River Avon in central Bristol. Its rooms occupied a Grade II Victorian warehouse near Bristol Temple Meads, between the water and railway tracks. The building had served as a gasworks and marble factory before becoming a skatepark in 2003. Tom Kilford acquired the unused skatepark in 2005, and club events started there the following year. Ramps remained on the dancefloor until 2015, when the site shifted to full-time nightclub and music-venue use.

The complex contained the original event room, the Tunnel, the Marble Factory and an outdoor terrace. A mezzanine and an elevated DJ booth formed part of the main room, which had an L-Acoustics sound system. Capacity was 1,650 in the original space and about 2,200 across the venue. Events ranged across electronic music and other styles, including house, dubstep and drum and bass. Bristol promoters included The Blast and Just Jack, while Defected and Cocoon were among the international brands that held nights there. Subloaded events used a bass sound system. In:Motion ended its series with a final event on New Year’s Day 2020, following its tenth-anniversary celebrations.

Past headliners included The Chemical Brothers, Chase & Status and Adam Beyer. Eats Everything also performed at the venue, including for a live BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix with Pete Tong and Calvin Harris. Motion closed its Avon Street venue in July 2025 when its lease expired.
