Nevermind Bar is a live-music venue at 336 Burwood Road in Hawthorn, Melbourne. Cameron Jackson, a local with a hospitality background, opened it in October 1998 in a former French restaurant. The bar’s name comes from Nirvana’s 1991 album Nevermind. It presents live acts and DJ sets, with live music on Fridays and Saturdays, alongside drag bingo, drag karaoke, trivia, comedy and open-mic events.
The band room’s performance space holds up to 60 patrons and has been used for bands, comedy, theatre and other performances. A private rooftop area accommodates 50 to 120 guests, with its own audio system that can connect to the venue’s in-house music system. The Next D’Or Bar has capacity for 80 to 150 guests. Abyssal is among the promoters to have run events at Nevermind Bar; artists who have played there include Skatty, SK4NK, CJOI and Edan.
