Panke

Panke is a club and cultural space in a former factory at Gerichtstraße 23 in Berlin’s Wedding district, near the Panke River. It opened in February 2011, after its operators spent about a year restoring the building. Erikah Vabaliukas and Justas founded and built the venue, with Vabaliukas running it from its beginnings.

The site has a bar, a club room of more than 100 square metres, a gallery and a garden beside the river. The club room accommodates about 300 people, and the whole venue around 400. Its sound system is suspended with vibration isolation, alongside other soundproofing measures. Music ranges from hip-hop and reggae to bass music, dub, beats and experimental sounds, alongside exhibitions, workshops, installations and performances.

Club nights have been run by Stoic Music Berlin, THE MINE, Bassism Records and Very Unimportant People. Artists to play there include Dub Athlete, DUKU, SGT Pokes and Footsie.
