Phonox

Phonox opened in September 2015 at 418 Brixton Road, in Brixton’s former Plan B venue. The London club is operated by The Columbo Group, which also runs The Jazz Café. Phonox director Andy Peyton has directed XOYO and The Nest, two other venues operated by the group.

The room has a single dance floor, capacity for about 450 people and a Funktion-One system. Saturday programming has included extended DJ sets, beginning with Jasper James as the opening resident; later residents included HAAi, Romare and Jeremy Underground. Its music ranges from house, techno and disco to drum and bass, with electronica, funk and soul also played. Event promoters have included Signal DNB, Soul In Motion and Soul In Motion Ldn, while artists performing there include Lenzman and MC Fox. For the club’s tenth anniversary in 2025, Phonox released a film about its history, room design, sound and lighting, and Brixton’s musical heritage.
