Piękny Pies

Piękny Pies is located at plac Wolnica 9 in Kraków, Poland, and has room for about 200 people. Maciej Piotr Prus, Krzysztof “Kiwi” Chwedczuk and Małgorzata Żarczyńska established the club in Kraków in 2002. Before arriving at Wolnica Square, it operated on Św. Jana Street, Sławkowska Street and Bożego Ciała Street.

Concerts have formed part of a broader programme that has also included theatre, exhibitions, film screenings, literary gatherings and performance-art festivals; concerts have not been confined to one genre. The monthly spoken-newspaper series Gadający Pies ran there over five years, combining discussion with music, readings, dance, images and performances. Writers and musicians such as Marcin Świetlicki, Pablopavo and Robert Makłowicz have long been associated with the club, and DJs including House Martin, Bartman and Murray Richardson have played there. Paintings by Marcin Maciejowski have appeared at every location. Swawólka, Invites and Proper House Disciples have each run events there.
