ONE.SEVENTY: 10 Year Anniversary
Planet Wax · London, United Kingdom
21:00 – 02:00
Planet Wax is a record shop, dubplate studio and bar at 318 New Cross Road in New Cross, London. Co-founded by Chris Dexta and Lewis Joyce, it began as an independent shop in Deptford before moving to New Cross. The business grew from the need for a physical base for 1-800-Dubplate, a dubplate-cutting service. It was formerly called Disc World. Its space has a capacity of about 20, and the shop regularly hosts DJ sets.
Its focus is underground electronic and dance music, with events spanning drum and bass, house, garage and dubstep. Planet Wax, Exit Records, Soul In Motion and Soul In Motion Ldn have run events there. Wednesday Open Decks sessions have welcomed DJs at different stages of experience; the venue has also hosted broadcasts, resident shows and guest mixes. Artists to play there include Uncle G, Dexta, YOU and Controlled Weirdness. Planet Wax held an official relaunch on 10 December 2022.
