Plaza Hotel Sydney is a music and nightlife venue at 600 George Street in Sydney’s central business district. Its Spanish Mission-style facade belongs to a building that first served as a cinema when it opened in 1930. Its former theatre, retaining Art Deco details, now includes Level One for live music, touring performers, DJ sets and club nights, alongside private screenings and smaller events.
The venue has six entertainment areas, including a restaurant, themed VIP rooms, a main dance floor and an underground vinyl bar. Ryan Maloney conceived Level One with Ibiza nightlife as an influence. Its Martin Audio installation, designed for international touring requirements, comprises 24 WPL line-array units and 18 SXH218 subwoofers, alongside event lighting. Plaza Basement combines cocktails, vinyl and late-night DJ music; its 135-person function space has six CDD15 speakers, eight CDD10 fills and two SX218 subwoofers. Wilkinson, Clifford, Dillinja and Jessi Lowkey have played at the venue.
Winchester Hotel Group owns the venue, with Sarah and Ryan Maloney providing creative direction. Plaza Hotel Sydney recognises the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation as the traditional custodians of the land where its buildings stand.
